Honest Bride Crosses Bridge

6/13/2013

I've enjoyed reading Interfaith minister (and bride-to-be) Hannah Grace's blog of her emotional experience of being engaged.  Thoughtful and honest and beautifully written.

As you well know, it ain't easy being a bride:
These last 313 days of being engaged and planning a wedding have turned out to be, for me at least, some of the most challenging of my life.

Until now.  30 days 'til our wedding day.  Click for full post
Sure sounds like this bride has crossed into the Bridging Stage, from my post below...

Hannah is ready. She's done the hard work (for 313 days), and has crossed the Bridge into her new life.

Congratulations, Hannah! We want a full report.

Allison, I remember reading your book when I was still very much in the thick of planning and feeling like I would never get to the Bridging stage! Even after your email about Bridging last week, it wasn't until your comment on my Wedding Countdown blog post that I finally realized I was there.

Thanks for the meaningful and much-needed work you do in helping brides navigate this unfamiliar terrain, and thanks from this bride for helping me see and settle into the best phase of the engagement so far. I will indeed keep you posted!

I actually hear exactly what you've said -- that you didn't notice you'd entered the Bridging stage until I directly pointed it out to you -- all the time from brides I work with.

The shift into the Bridging stage is a significant, but incredibly subtle one. The move out of the upset/mourning stage is gradual and replaced by a readiness and inner peace.

However, that inner peace may be masked over because, with one month until your wedding, there's simply SO MUCH TO DO!

I'm glad my direct words, "You've entered the Bridging stage," helped you see where you are, and where you've already been now for a few weeks.

I'll be thinking of you as your wedding approaches. Stay in touch and keep writing your blog!
